DMI: Rising heat replaced by dangerous weather

Read Time:1 Minute, 4 Second

On Wednesday, meteorologists at DMI are expecting rising heat with temperatures over 30 degrees, but the day will have a violent ending – so violent that DMI has issued a warning in category 2 – so-called “dangerous weather”.

The warning applies to Zealand, Lolland, Falster, Møn, Samsø, and most of Funen from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

According to the warning, DMI expects thunderstorms and local cloudbursts with between 25 and 35 mm of rain in 30 minutes. The showers can be accompanied by hail and strong gusts of storm force.

Furthermore, a risk warning has been issued for large parts of eastern Jutland for local cloudbursts, thunderstorms, hail, and gusts. Locally, between 15 and 25 mm of rain can fall in 30 min. There is also a risk of strong gusts of wind between 20 and 30 m/s.

The reason is a cold front coming from the northwest, which is causing an area with heavy rain and thunderstorms to move over the southern and eastern parts of Denmark. Showers can also begin to occur spontaneously in the same area, and according to DMI, there is a high probability of cloudbursts occurring in Funen, Zealand, Lolland, and Falster.
