Kultur og Fritidsudvalget (The Culture and Leisure Committee -ed.) in Copenhagen Municipality has decided to award a total of 3,145,000 Danish kroner in funding to 23 different festivals and events to be held in 2026.

The money comes from the municipality’s Festival Fund, which aims to strengthen the city’s cultural life through support for diverse cultural and leisure events.

Among the festivals receiving support are music festivals like Blaagaard Festival and Brønshøj Summer Jazz, the comic festival Copenhagen Comics, and the Greenlandic cultural festival Kalaallit Nunaata Isaa Festival. In total, the Festival Fund received 59 applications in this round.

“The many Copenhagen festivals contribute to making the city vibrant year-round. Therefore, it is good that with the Festival Fund, we can support a wide range of events – across genres and target groups – and thereby strengthen the city’s cultural life, community, and international profile,” says Culture and Leisure Mayor Mia Nyegaard (RV).

The Festival Fund allows for applying for both one-year and three-year grants. One-year grants are awarded annually, while three-year grants can be applied for every three years – the first time in 2021.
