The court in Viborg has today handed down a verdict in an extensive drug case, where five men have been convicted of possession and resale of a total of 3.5 kilograms of cocaine.

The convicted men, aged between 24 and 44, have each been sentenced to between four and a half and six and a half years in prison. The total sentence amounts to 27 years in prison. The 35-year-old man was also deported from Denmark with a 12-year entry ban.

The case revolved around the fact that the men, between July 13 and October 23, 2023, took orders and distributed cocaine to a large number of people via phone and internet-based communication services. All five were arrested on October 23, 2023, following targeted and lengthy investigations.

“We received a tip in the summer of 2023 that led us to focus on the five convicted men. An extensive investigation has taken place both before and after the arrests, and among other things, phone interceptions and observations of the individuals involved and the environment around them led to the prosecution filing charges and the court convicting the five men today,” said Police Commissioner and lead investigator Henrik Andersen.

Christian Skov Poulsen, acting special prosecutor at the prosecution in Midt- and West Jutland, stated:

“I am satisfied with the verdict, and I note in particular that the court agreed that the five acted as a collective network and were thus collectively convicted.”

The 24-year-old and the 25-year-old men were each sentenced to four years and six months in prison and accepted the sentence. The 34-year-old and the 35-year-old were both sentenced to six years and six months in prison, with the 35-year-old also being deported with a 12-year entry ban. He asked for time to consider. The 44-year-old man received five years in prison and a three-year driving ban.

All five have been imprisoned following the sentencing.
